Our Verdict

Since launch the bonus has been $500 after $4,500 spend. This is a nice increased bonus, and also a higher spend requirement at $6,000 within 180 days. Nice, I’m considering giving this one a go, especially given the 12 months of 0% APR which I can float the $6,000 spend.

U.S. Bank does not report business cards to the personal bureaus (though you will get a hard pull on your personal report). Check out these Things To Know About U.S. Bank Credit Cards before applying. We’ll add this to our list of Best Credit Card Signup Bonuses.

I have been doing the Chase cards but wanted to try the US Bank ones, does the $750 cash back work like Chase where you get 75K points and you can choose to use the points as cash back? and then potentially use them for travel and the be worth more if you use their travel site? or what are the options with the cash back? just a statement credit or money to a checking account? thanks!

I’m not sure if the $750 is more through their travel site, but you get 5% back on travel so that’s still worth using it for

I applied on the 3rd, and just got approved today (11th).

The card comes with a 0% introductory APR for the first year, and I have a 25k limit. I’ve never not paid the statement balance, but I’m happy to put the money in an interest bearing account. How do I go about taking advantage of this? Just pay the minimum payment each month? When do I have to pay the balance off fully to avoid getting charged interest?

Yes, pay the minimum payment each month by the due date, and pay off the whole balance before the 12th statement cycle. On the statement, you will find when the 12th cycle is.

On your first statement it will show when the 12 months ends for the 0%. To be 100% safe after the first bill comes I call them and get the actual date it ends. It usually ends with that 12th month statement. I have seen some card companies get scammy and have the date to pay (the final day) which is prior to the actual bill due date. US Bank is transparent and has good service. What I suggest if you use Google Calender or similar is put a reminder in there 4 weeks out and note than and a week out note the same so you can pay in full prior. If you are using this to float money and make interest make sure you lock that rate as rates may be dropping. Consider Tbills and or CDS etc. the first bill will show you the minimum payment needed. I set that to autopay the minimum payment only.

Got approved after like 4 days including weekend/holiday. I had no idea what I was doing and was sure I filled out the application wrong.

I signed up for the bonus but the extras are very very nice. I’m planning a trip and will do it through usbank for the 5%, hitting the spend and the 0% interest

Transunion for me as well. I thawed all my credit and refroze. I suggest others here do the same. So many scammers out there these days. Is easy to set the freeze and thaw online. Avoid all their paid plans as this is 100% free. I also get emails once the credit hit goes throuwh. You can set it to thaw for a day and auto freeze, or a few days as needed. Its good to set the refreeze date.

There is an interesting angle on this one, which I am sure others realize. This card has a 0% 12 month rate on purchases. These days on savings alone in Tbills you can get 5% or more. You could out a good amount of spend on this, depending on your credit line.

For those with lower credit limits and have to pay off the card in order to hit the spending requirement, US Bank will sometimes add a hold to larger payment amounts from external accounts. As a result, your credit limit doesn’t update until the hold is removed, which happens automatically after 7 days, or earlier if you call into confirm that the payment cleared. Got this helpful advice from a supervisor earlier this week.

A solution to this problem is pushing money from your external bank to your US Bank credit card. So if you have a $3,000 limit you can send $2,000 to the credit card account and your balance will be a credit of $2,000 with an available credit limit of $5,000.

Does USBank’s CL go up, or do you just have $3000 and another $2000 that kicks in when you spend that first 3k?

Does that temporarily increase the cash advance limit? For credit card funding with US Bank card, the funding amount needs to be lower than the CA amount (25% of credit limit) to go though, it goes pending as CA but posts as purchase. For this reason it is very hard to use US bank card for cc funding is the credit limit is very low.

Also, how to push money into credit card? Does US bank card allow making a payment exceeding the amount due?

Good to know, but with 6 months to spend $6000, it shouldn’t be hard to deal with low credit limits.
