When it comes to Dead Space as a series, there is little that is as iconic as the armor that the protagonist Isaac Clarke wears. While this suit (also referred to as Resource Integration Gear or RIG for short) is mostly intended for protecting CEC workers in hazardous conditions, it also comes in handy when dealing with the Necromorph outbreak onboard the USG Ishimura.

As players go through Dead Space, they will gradually find schematics that allow them to upgrade their RIG to ones that provide more protection and inventory space. Here is where players can find all suit upgrades.

How to Get the Level 2 Suit

Dead Space: All Suit Upgrades (1)

When starting the game (excluding New Game Plus), Dead Space players start with the basic Level 1 suit. This suit provides limited inventory space and no armor, so players will want to upgrade as soon as possible. Fortunately, the Level 2 suit can be obtained near the end of the first chapter.

Upon reaching the first Store, interact with it to open the menu for purchasing/selling items. The Level 2 suit can be purchased for 10,000 Credits. The Level 2 suit provides 5% damage reduction and increases inventory size to 13 slots.

How to Get the Level 3 Suit

Dead Space: All Suit Upgrades (2)

After getting the Level 2 suit, Dead Space players will need to wait a little while before they can upgrade their RIG again. To be more specific, players can find the Level 3 suit during the fourth chapter. Right before going outside to calibrate the ADS Cannons, look for a room called EVA Prep Room. In this small room is a schematic for the Level 3 Suit. Once the schematic has been taken to the store, players can purchase the upgrade for 20,000 Credits. The Level 3 suit provides 10% damage reduction and increases inventory size to 17 slots.

How to Get the Level 4 Suit

Dead Space: All Suit Upgrades (3)

The Level 4 suit schematic can be found during the seventh chapter. After protecting Nicole while she unlocks the door to the storage room, go inside to find the SOS beacon. Before grabbing the beacon, look around in this room to find the schematic for the Level 4 suit. This upgrade costs 35,000 Credits. The Level 4 suit provides 15% damage reduction and increases inventory size to 20 slots.

How to Get the Level 5 Suit

Dead Space: All Suit Upgrades (4)

The schematic for the Level 5 suit can be found during the tenth chapter. In the standard bathroom early on in the chapter, the schematic can be found on a bench. This upgrade will cost 60,000 Credits, but it provides 20% damage reduction and increases inventory size to 25 slots.

How to Get the Level 6 Suit

Dead Space: All Suit Upgrades (5)

The final upgrade, the Level 6 suit, can only be found by beating the game and starting a New Game Plus save file. Upon reaching the Store at the end of the first chapter, Dead Space players will have the option to purchase this upgrade. The Level 6 suit costs 99,000 Credits, but it provides 30% damage reduction. Unfortunately, it does not increase inventory size but taking 30% less damage can be very helpful on harder difficulties.

Dead Space is available now on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
